Francisco DeBarros Obituary
Born in Fogo, Cape Verde, the son of the late Cesario and Amelia (Pina) DeBarros, he lived in New Bedford for many years.
Frank was formerly employed as a laborer in the construction industry until his retirement. He was a member of the Laborers' Union.
He was always involved in politics here in USA and his motherland Cabo Verde and would challenge anyone willing to debate his opinions. Keeping in touch with family around the world was his passion. He was an active Benfica soccer fan. He had a welcoming, friendly personality to anyone who crossed his path.
He is survived by his siblings, Natalio DeBarros, Damiao DeBarros, Daniel DeBarros, Felipe DeBarros, Jose DeBarros, Estevao "Steve" DeBarros, Antonio DeBarros, Maria Laura Barros, Maria "Tchica" Barros, and Antonia DePina; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Agnelo DeBarros.
His funeral will be held on February 4th at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 10 AM. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Monday February 3rd from 4-8 PM. For online condolence book, please visit www,saundersdwyer.com.
