Nelson L. DeBarros Jr.

Nelson L. DeBarros, Jr., 81, of New Bedford died January 9, 2025 at home after a brief illness surrounded by his family.
He was the husband of Priscilla F. (Roderick) DeBarros.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late Nelson L. DeBarros, Sr. and Josephina (Tavares) Haynes, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
He was formerly employed as a construction worker for many years until his retirement.
Mr. DeBarros was a member of New Life South Coast.
He was a member of the William H. Carney Elks Lodge.
His family would like to thank the SouthCoast Hospice for the wonderful care that Nelson received.
Survivors include his wife Priscilla; 6 daughters, Rhonda Stevens, Robbie DeBarros, Tracy DeBarros, LaRhonda Silva-Johnson and her husband Todd, LaShea Silva and LaNae Soares; a brother, Thomas DeBarros and his wife Kathy; 4 sisters, Jean DeBarros, Judith DeBarros, Joyce Martin and Melody Haynes; 9 grandchildren, Rayven, Darrien, Dayanna, Rakim, Kahreem, Destiny, Danya, Nico and Ashlee; 7 great-grandchildren, Landon, Riley, Kali, Avia, Messiah, Nasir and Arabella; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Raymond DeBarros, Sr., Donald DeBarros and Joan Lacerta.
His funeral services will be private.
His Celebration of Life will be held in the spring.
