Jonas Salles deBarros

Jonas Salles deBarros, age 94, a native of Brazil and a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away peacefully, August 8, 2023, surrounded by family and friends. Jonas became a proud American citizen April 12, 1955, and cherished that citizenship. A graduate of LSU in civil engineering, he, along with his son Gerry, owned deBarros and Associates. After retirement, he became a Southern Baptist volunteer foreign missionary, working in Nigeria, Philippines and Brazil. He is survived by his wife Louise; children, Janet Ashworth, Gerry (Karen) deBarros, Suzette (Roch) Landaiche, David (Yvonne) deBarros, and Babette deBarros; stepsons, Richard (Nancy) Charlet and Keith (Dagmar) Charlet; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. Proceeded in death by Ed Ashworth and Ian Pound. He loved all his children and the Lord and will be greatly missed.
