Frank R. Abbamonte was a caring, loving and selfless son, brother, husband, father, uncle, and friend. He left this world with a piece of their hearts on July 19, 2021. He passed at home peacefully with his family at his side. He was 60.
The son of Robert Abbamonte and Anna Marie Arcuri, he was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 3, 1960. He married Lilia Remus on September 21, 1985.
Frank believed in old fashioned values, hard work, showing up for his family, friends and being responsible. He had a great sense of humor, loved his family, friends and their children.
Frank retired in 2015 as Case Manager from the U.S. Department of Justice - Federal Bureau of Prisons where he had served for 25 years. He was also on the Crisis Hostage Negotiation Management Team as well as an Alternate Regional Disciplinary Hearing Officer. He was a NYS Licensed Private Investigator for many years. He had a great work ethic and would help in any way he could.
The love for his family was his greatest accomplishment. Frank is survived by his wife of 35 years Lilly and children: Lilia Anna Abbamonte and Francis Robert Joseph Abbamonte.
He also leaves behind his sisters, Gerianne Winkeleer, Mary Ann Gau (John Smith) and brother, Joseph Abbamonte (Ann Marie), brother-in-law, Juan Remus (Maggie Rodriguez) and nieces and nephews, Juan Remus (Danielle), Geralynn Winkeleer (Christopher Stuart), Samantha Gau (Joseph Rivera), Jamie Geiselman (Collin), Danielle Winkeleer (Kevin Kuen), Michael Remus (Danielle) and Alyssa Gau (Christopher Ferrelli).
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 26, 2021 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home in Middletown, NY from 4 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Church at 149 Cottage Street, Middletown on July 27, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., Entombment will follow in the Queen of Peace Mausoleum in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society in his name.
