DURHAM - Frank Walter Adamovich, 96, longtime resident of Durham, passed peacefully on November 2, 2025. Frank was born on January 30, 1929, in Pepperell, MA to Kazimir and Rosalia Adamonis.
Frank attended State Teachers College at Fitchburg, MA where he completed his B.S. in Teaching in 1960, and Simmons College, where he received his M.S. in Library Science in 1968. Frank began his career teaching high school science in the Boston Public School System, and then at Nathaniel Hawthorne College in NH. In 1968 he became the Government Documents Librarian at the University of NH in Durham. He retired from UNH as Associate Professor Emeritus in 1994.
Frank, with his wife Shirley, moved to Durham in 1968 and over many years built their home themselves. He continued to take care of his mother and their farm in Pepperell for most of his working years. When not working, Frank and Shirley loved music and ballroom dancing together. He also enjoyed fishing, building remote control airplanes, boating, fruit and vegetable gardening, and playing his accordion.
Frank is survived by his daughter, Carrie Rose Gadbois with her husband Laurence Alfred Gadbois, of Dover, NH; his daughter, Elizabeth Maude Missell with her husband James Harrison Missell, of Annandale, VA; his granddaughter Jessica Rose Missell of Annandale, VA; his step-grandson Laurence A.
