Roland L "Sam" Kelley

Roland "Sam" Kelley, 91, most recently of Derry, New Hampshire passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. A long-time resident of Northwood, New Hampshire, Sam was born on December 2, 1933, in Jonesport, Maine to Millard and Velma (Beal) Kelley.
Sam proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1958, achieving the rank of Seaman 3rd Class. His military career took him to various parts of the world, including a tour in Japan. He shared many interesting stories of his time in the Navy and his commitment to his country was unwavering.
Sam attended Wentworth Institute of Technology, in Boston, Massachusetts graduating with a degree in Engineering. After College and the Navy, Sam worked for The Burrows Corporation repairing equipment. While in Boston, Sam met Ann, the love of his life, while square dancing.
They were married and enjoyed over 50 years together while continuing to enjoy square dancing, bowling, fishing and playing cards with friends. Sam spent many of his summers in Jonesport, Maine, where he enjoyed being near the ocean and writing his novel about early life in Lakemans Harbor.
Sam was pre-deceased by his beloved wife B. Ann (Manchester) Kelley in March, 2020. He is survived by his nephew Glenn Manchester, and his wife Leah, of Derry, NH; his niece Cathy Hawley, and her husband John, of Marlborough, NH; his cousin Mark Faulkingham and partner Anne Tucker of Harrington, ME, as well as many great nieces and great nephews and long-time friends.
A service of remembrance to honor Sam's life will be held on Thursday, November 6th, 2025 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Purdy Memorial Chapel, 2 Concord Road (Rt. 4), Lee, New Hampshire. A graveside service of remembrance and burial to take place at noon on Friday, November 7th, 2025 at Greenwood Cemetery, Mason Bay Road, Jonesport, Maine.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the New Hampshire Food Bank in Sam's memory.
