Frank Richard Barger, 88, of Hebron, Indiana, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025. He was born July 16, 1937, in Rensselaer, Indiana, the son of Frank Robert Barger and Vera Verdell (Myers) Barger. Frank graduated from Fair Oaks High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Frank spent many years as a barber in Wheatfield and Hebron, where he built lasting friendships and became a familiar face in the community. Later, he pursued a successful career in real estate, where his business expertise and independence set him apart. A true outdoorsman, Frank could often be found riding his mower or clearing brush from his properties with a chainsaw in hand. He was a keen observer of nature’s beauty and loved spending the time watching the birds on his feeders. He loved collecting stories from his travels, and wherever he went in the world, he always seemed to cross paths with fellow Hoosiers.
Frank was previously married to Janice E. (Walther) Barger, with whom he shared many cherished years. He is survived by their three children: Lyn (John) Thomas of Indiana, Gary (Tessa) Barger of Florida, and Nichole Barger (Jason Neff) of Colorado; five grandchildren: Derek (Christy) Thomas, Brooke (Scott) Bruins, Steven (Stephanie) Barger, Sophia Neff, and Kai Neff; and five great-grandchildren: Henry, Charlie, Madison, Grayson, and Brooks. He is also survived by his longtime companion and dear friend, Paula Colman of Hebron, Indiana.
Frank was preceded in death by his former wife, Janice; his parents, Frank and Vera Barger; and his brother, Jerry Barger.
Per Frank’s wishes, cremation will take place. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.SteinkeFuneralHome.com
