Ronald Eugene Marlin, Sr., a beloved member of the Rensselaer community, passed away on December 25, 2025, at the Rensselaer Care Center. Born on December 14, 1948, in Rensselaer, Indiana, Ron’s life was marked by hard work, love, and dedication to his family and friends.
A proud graduate of Rensselaer High School, class of 1968, Ron went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Navy. After his service, he channeled his work ethic into his career, operating his own courier service, Marlin in a Minute, for many years. He was also known for delivering for Rick’s Pizza, where he built lasting friendships with both customers and coworkers, showcasing his friendly personality and commitment to serving others.
On July 1, 1978, Ron married the love of his life, Debbra Lynn “Debbie” Rainford. Their marriage was a testament to the love and partnership they shared throughout their years together. Sadly, Ron was preceded in death by his beloved wife, as well as his parents, Henry and Kate Marlin, and two brothers, Steve Marlin and Bill Marlin.
Ron is survived by his two sons, Ronnie Marlin, Jr. of East Chicago, IN, and Trevor Marlin of Frankfort, IN. He leaves behind two brothers, Brad (Joy) Marlin of Rossville, IN, and Henry (Rita) Marlin of Ft. Worth, TX, who will cherish their memories of a hard worker, a loving brother, and a dedicated father.
To honor his life, a visitation will be held on January 6, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM, both taking place at Steinke Funeral Home, located at 403 N. Front St., Rensselaer, IN 47978. Pastor Larry B. Hansen officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Weston Cemetery. The family invites all who knew Ron to come and celebrate his life and the lasting impact he made on those around him. He will be remembered fondly and missed dearly, leaving an indelible mark in the hearts of all who knew him.
