Frank J. Nuss, Jr., affectionately known as Sonny, was born on April 21, 1938, in Rensselaer, Indiana. He passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025, in Lafayette, Indiana, leaving behind a legacy defined by his craftsmanship, dedication to family, and love for the outdoors.

A graduate of Rensselaer High School, Frank embraced a career that showcased his skills as a carpenter. He dedicated ten years to Consumers Union Shop before becoming self-employed, establishing Nuss Construction, where he served the community for many years. His commitment to quality workmanship was well-known, immortalized in his catchy slogan, “Don’t cuss. Call Nuss.” Frank’s dedication to his craft was matched only by his affection for his family and friends.

On November 13, 1959, Frank married Glenlyne Helen Titus in Rensselaer, a partnership that spanned 58 years until her passing on October 30, 2018. Together, they built a loving home and raised their family.

Frank is survived by his children: Steve Nuss, Kevin (Katrina) Nuss, Stoney (Patty) Nuss, Nathan (Marie) Nuss, and Julie Nuss. Frank took immense pride in his role as a father and later as a grandfather and great-grandfather, cherishing the time he spent with his loved ones.

Frank is also survived by his brother, Jesse “Red” (Linda) Nuss, and four sisters: Janet (Joe), Patty, Brenda, and Rita. He will be greatly missed by his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who carry forward his spirit of love and generosity.

Beyond his professional life, Frank engaged in various hobbies that brought him joy. He was an avid fisherman and had a profound love for baseball, proudly supporting the Chicago Cubs. His passion extended to horses, which he cared for and rode with enthusiasm, showing his deep appreciation for all animals.

Frank attended Faith Pentecostal Church, where he gathered with his community to share in fellowship and support. His strong faith was a cornerstone throughout his life, guiding him in both his personal endeavors and his relationships with others.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Glenlyne Nuss; his son, Rodney Troy Nuss; his granddaughter, Vanessa Janaey Nuss; his great-grandson, Kayle Michael Shanley; his parents, Frank and Beulah Nuss; and six sisters: Carol, Norma, Marjorie, Emma, Shirley, and Marilyn. Their memories remain with those who loved him dearly.

The visitation will be held at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer on Thursday, December 18, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Bill Taylor. Frank will be laid to rest at Prater Cemetery, where family and friends can pay their final respects.

Frank J. Nuss, Jr. will be remembered not just for his professional contributions but for the love and laughter he shared with his family and friends. His spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
