Frank Edward Batte Sr., age 75, passed away in the comfort of his own home, peacefully, with those who loved him dearly on Sunday, August 4th, 2024. His visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Thursday, August 8, 2024, from 12:00 PM until 1:45 PM at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS. His services will take place in our Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM. His burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Baptist Cemetery in Forest, MS.
Frank was born on February 26, 1949, to Otho Vertis “Jack” & Irene Mavis Jordan Batte in Smith County, Mississippi. He attended Pineville School & graduated from Burns High School in 1967. He married Betty Carolyn Gardner, and had three children: Frank Edward Jr., Timothy Edwin, & Christy Laurie Batte. Frank began his career working with his dad & brothers in the logging industry. Later, Frank pursued his lifelong dream of farming where he became involved in the cattle & poultry business. Frank loved the Lord & surrendered his life to the ministry in his early forties. He pastored at Covenant Baptist Church in Scott County, MS. and Sharon Baptist Church in Smith County, MS. where he enjoyed preaching, teaching, & leading others to the Lord. Frank’s ministry led him to finding his second wife, Pamela Ann Wilkerson. Frank was diagnosed with dementia & throughout the last year of his life, he enjoyed being surrounded by his children, grandchildren, & friends. He was a pillar of the community willing to help those in need. He was a man full of faith & had the ability to give encouraging advice in a deep & positive way. He was preceded in death by his father, Otho Vertis “Jack” Batte, mother, Irene Mavis Jordan Batte, sister, Ruby Ann Batte Rayner, & wife, Pamela Ann Wilkerson Batte.
Frank is survived by his three children, Christy Batte Hodge of Raleigh, MS, Frank Edward Batte, Jr. of Forest, MS and Timothy Edwin Batte (Teresa) of Forest, MS; his ex-son-in-law Toby Hodge of Pulaski, MS; his four step-children, Lana Kristie Wilkerson Smith (Brad) of Madden, MS, Darren Valley Wilkerson (Charlene) of Busy Corner, MS, Amanda Wilkerson Moreland (Rick) of Woodland, TX and Lance Harrison Wilkerson (Lisa) of Meadville, MS; his three brothers, Bennie Batte (Virginia) of Forest, MS, Bill Batte (Pat) of Forest, MS and Larry Batte (Judy) of Raleigh, MS; his seventeen grandchildren, Christopher Black, Tyler Black, Emma Hodge, Valley Albertson, Vanna Smith, Carly Blair Allen, Mallory Smith, Brandin Batte, Jack Batte, Loren Shell, Kevin Vanier, AnnaGrace Conrad, Matthew Wilkerson, Brooke Wilkerson, Logan Wilkerson, Billy Wilkerson and Irene Batte as well as fifteen great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be, Brandin Batte, Jack Batte, Christohper Black, Tyler Black, Casey Roderick and Toby Hodge.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Batte, Randy Batte and Allen Rayner.
