Frank J. Caputo

 

WEST BOYLSTON – Frank J. Caputo, 89, passed away peacefully, after an illness, on Saturday August 26, 2023, at River Terrace Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Lancaster.

 

Born June 22, 1934, he was a first generation American, the son of Pasquale and Guiseppina (Capalbo) Caputo then of Worcester both originally from Foggia, Italy. Frank was one of seven children growing up in the Italian neighborhoods surrounding Worcester’s Shrewsbury Street. He was a graduate of Grafton Street Junior High School and attended Worcester Boys Trade School before leaving for work to help support his family.

 

Frank was a proud employee of Norton Company of Worcester, spending 33 years working in various capacities, including as an operator of an automated grain bagger. After initially retiring, he continued to work in the grocery business for Big D, Price Chopper, and Shaw’s supermarkets.

 

Throughout his life Frank enjoyed bowling, golfing, and found great joy in socializing with everyone he met. He engaged in the community as a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus, a long-time parishioner and collector at Our Lady Good Counsel Parish of West Boylston, and a lifetime member of the Greendale Men’s Club, where he served as greeter and coffee club organizer for their monthly meetings. He was always looking forward to the next group bus trip or special meal with family. Ever the contrarian, Frank loved rooting for his two favorite sports teams: the New York Yankees and whoever was playing the four major Boston sports teams.

 

Frank is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Mary (Beshai) Caputo, his daughter Donna Robbins and her husband, Kevin, a grandson Todd Robbins and his wife, Kathryn, a granddaughter Ashley Robbins and her husband, Travis Condon, and two great-grandchildren, Cooper Condon and Patrick Robbins, all of Leominster. He also leaves a sister-in-law Virginia Dupont and her husband, Roy, of Holden, along with nieces and nephews. The last survivor of his immediate family before his passing, Frank was predeceased by his parents and siblings Lillian, Nancy, Marie, Anthony, Grace, and Anna.

 

Family and friends are invited to a visiting hour Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Fay Brothers Life Celebration Home, 1 West Boylston St., West Boylston, from 9:30-10:30am followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00am in Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, 111 Worcester St, West Boylston. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, P.O.
