Frank “Buster” Carpenter, 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 21, 2026, in Lake Charles, LA.
Mr. Carpenter was born in Beaumont, TX but lived most of his life in Lake Charles and graduated from Landry High School in 1959. He attended McNeese State University where he studied Chemistry. He also studied Industrial Electronics at Sowela Technical Institute and Telemetering at the University of Texas in Austin.
In his adolescent years, he played many sports: football, track and baseball, demonstrating a level of athleticism that awarded him many honors for all his success. It was this level of working hard and striving for excellence that was carried forward in his professional career. He worked for 14 years for Conoco holding various Supervisory Instrumentation positions in Lake Charles and Baltimore, Maryland. He then established Lake Charles Instruments, Inc. (LCI) in 1981, a manufacturing and service company within the Oil Measurement Industry that continues to thrive today. He had a passion for helping his customers and was the one you called if you had measurement problems. He traveled throughout the US, Mexico, Venezuela & Ecuador consulting with his customers and correcting their measurement accuracy. He taught measurement seminars at his facility in Lake Charles and also presented speeches at a multitude of venues in oilfield measurement. He secured three United States Patents for his innovative ideas within this industry. In 1992, he would go on to receive the Lantern Award from Governor Edwin Edwards for his excellence in manufacturing in Louisiana and was presented the District 5 Louisiana Small Business Person of the Year Award.
Those left to cherish his memory are, his three daughters, Melanie Arceneaux (Chuck), Kippy Greicar, and Christy Dailey (Glenn); his grandchildren, Chance Arceneaux (Blair), Taylor Arceneaux (Ashlie), Alexis Arceneaux (Tyler), Grant Dailey, Sydnie Dailey (Fiancé Nick) and Ryan Dailey; great-grandchildren, Cohen, Charlie, Everleigh, Kate and Amelia. He is also survived by the mother of his children and best friend, Judy Carpenter. He was preceded in death by his parent, Effie Hebert Carpenter and William Murray Carpenter, Sr.; brothers, William “Bill” Carpenter, Jr. and James “Jim” Carpenter
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Father Josh Page will serve as Celebrant. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home, located at 4321 Lake Street, Lake Charles, LA from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM, with a Rosary being recited at 10:30 AM. Due to the possibility of inclement weather, the Burial is scheduled for Wednesday, January 28, 2026.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Healthcare Staff and Physicians at Christus Ochsner St. Patrick Hospital and Harbor Hospice Hospital for the outstanding and compassionate care that he received.
