Frank Castello Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home Inc - West Nyack on Feb. 17, 2024.
Frank A. Castello, 92, of West Nyack, New York, passed away on February 15, 2024 in New York, New York.
Frank was born in New York, New York to Joseph Castello and his wife Carmela. Frank was a proud veteran of the US Navy who served as a gunner's mate on the USS Borie (DD-704). He married the love of his life, Eleanor, in 1957 and they shared four cherished children. As a hard working man, he retired at the age of 85.
In his retirement, he could be found with a newspaper in hand, reading the sports section first, then heading to crossword puzzles and Sudoku. A lifelong fitness enthusiast, he continued to push through his recent illness, often asking "when can we exercise?" He was the family champion of Gin Rummy and Scrabble.
He held his faith close to his heart and as a devout Catholic, he attended Church each morning until he was no longer able to do so. He was an avid New York Yankees, Jets, and Rangers fan, and could often be found cheering them on with fervor.
Frank's family was most important to him and he found great joy in celebrating holidays and family milestones. Although he made only one dish (French Toast), he was the self proclaimed "taster" of foods being prepared for these feasts.
Frank is survived by his wife of 66 years, Eleanor, his brother, John Castello, his four children, Dr. Donna Castello, Frank Castello, Jr., Anthony Castello, and Michael Castello. He was a doting grandfather to ten grandchildren, Aleashia, Stephanie, Jennifer, Vanessa, Michelle, Natasha, Melissa, Bianca, Michael and Oriana, as well as two great-grandchildren with a third on the way.
Visitation will be held at Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home 728 West Nyack Road, West Nyack, NY 10994 on Monday, February 19th from 3 P.M. - 7 P.M. Funeral Services will be held at Saint Anthony's Church, located at 36 W Nyack Rd, Nanuet, NY 10954, on Tuesday, February 20th at 10 A.M., with the burial to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Frank's name.
