Frank Anthony Chimenti, 84, of Lynchburg, VA, died Saturday, March 30, 2024. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy Becker Chimenti.

Frank was born May 3, 1939, in Erie, PA, a son of the late Frank Cicco Chimenti and the late Evelyn Lauretta Chimenti. He earned a PhD. in mathematics from Penn State University and went on to teach math and computer science for 38 years at SUNY Fredonia, Southwestern Oklahoma State University, California State University San Bernardino and Dominquez Hills, Liberty University (VA), Bridgewater College (VA), Southern Arkansas University (AR), and Coker College (SC). He also worked for NASA and the Goddard Space Flight Center. Frank loved the beauty of math, and was convinced God was a mathematician. He was a devote follower of Jesus the Christ, fulfillment of Old Testament prophesies and the savior of the world. It was these connections between the Old and New Testaments - the beauty and correlations of the Bible as a unified message system that excited him. Frank approached the scriptures with the same rigor and passion that he approached his other academic pursuits. Even in retirement this love of his savior and the Bible kept his mind active and led him to lead Bible Studies and share with all he met.

He is survived by his children, Stefanie Prokity and her husband David, of Rustburg, and Eric Chimenti and his wife, Dawn, of Southern California; a grandson, Daniel Chimenti, of Southern California, and a sister Letitia Skrzypczak of Erie, PA.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11am at Tharp Funeral Home. A celebration of Frank's life will be conducted immediately after at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 6, 2024 in the chapel. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.

“Seek the Lord while he may be found; call upon him while he is near;  let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon." Isaiah 55:6–7
