William M. Chimenti

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William M. Chimenti, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who left us peacefully on September 15, 2025. He was 71 years old.

Bill was born in Erie on April 28, 1954 a son of the late Attilio and Albia (Cacchione) Chimenti. He was 1972 graduate of Academy and spent most of his career at General Electric before leaving to raise a family.

A proud and lifelong fan of the Cleveland Browns, Indians, and Penn State football, Bill wore his heart of his sleeve. Whether it was Sunday football or a summer ballgame he never missed a chance to yell at the tv or radio! His passion for his teams was unwavering, and he passed that love of the game on to those closest to him.

Beyond sports, Bill had a deep appreciation for classic rock. The sounds of the Doobie Brothers, ZZ Top, or Stevie Ray Vaughan filled his home. Music was more than background noise but rather a love he used to connect with family and friends.

More than anything, Bill was a devoted father who led with quiet strength. Even in the face of adversity, he never lost his sense of humor, his gratitude for simple joys, or his love for those around him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Jean (Barr) Chimenti.

Bill is survived by his children, Elaine Chimenti, John Chimenti, wife Megan; grandchildren, John, Anthony, and Samantha Chimenti; siblings Marjory Painter, husband Merle, Robert Chimenti, wife Sherry, and Maryann Chimenti. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call on Thursday from 4 to 8 pm at the Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street. A funeral mass will be held on Friday at 1:30 pm at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1626 West 26th Street. Burial will be private in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
