Peabody, MA - Frank J. Coz Sr., age 101, of Peabody, MA passed away on September 14, 2023, after a brief illness.
Born on November 10, 1921 in Herminie, PA, Frank spent most of his childhood in Paris Township, Ohio, where he graduated in the Class of 1940 from Paris Township School. His family later moved to Garrettsville, Ohio where they ran a dairy farm, and Frank lived for 18 years. Frank later moved to Ravenna, Ohio, where he and his wife, Clara, raised their five children and were active in Immaculate Conception Catholic parish. In 1989, Frank and Clara moved to Lancaster, Ohio. After his wife's passing, he relocated in 2014 to Peabody, MA to be near one of his sons.
Frank is survived by his four sons and their spouses, Tom (& Maureen) Coz, Frank Coz (& Donna Sulhan), Paul (& Elizabeth) Coz and Andrew (& Cindy) Coz, along with eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. One sibling, Helen Luppino, also survives him. He is predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Clara (Flogge), his daughter Rosemary Shriver, and great grandson Charlie Towner. Siblings that preceded Frank in death include brothers John and Larry Coz, and sisters Frances Buchman, Antoinette Evers, Agnes Brookover and Sr. Mary Ann Coz.
Frank was proud of his Slovenian heritage and his strong Catholic faith. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Army in the Pacific Theater. He worked with Ohio Bell for over 39 years as a Central Office repairman, and later as a supervisor. After retirement, he remained active in the Pioneers of America. He also became involved with the Saint Vincent de Paul Society in Lancaster, Ohio, where he served as the organization's president. He was also active in St. Bernadette's Catholic parish.
A funeral mass will be conducted on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at 10:30am at St. Patrick's Catholic church in Kent, Ohio. Calling hours will be at St. Patrick's church from 9:30 am to 10:30 am, preceding the funeral mass. Burial will be at Standing Rock Cemetery.
