Frank Anthony Fiala peacefully passed away early Thursday evening on July 18, 2024. He was surrounded by his best friend, loving children and his son-in-law. Frank was a father, grandfather and great grandfather, father-in-law, brother, and uncle.

Born May 1, 1939 in Biloxi, MS, he was a current resident of San Jose, CA. As a young man, Frank joined the Air Force and later, the Fire Department, where he retired as the Fire Marshall for the City of Palo Alto. Throughout his life his passions have included traveling, golfing, duck hunting and skeet shooting, having received the state and world championship awards. Frank loved spending time with his children, his adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was a loving father to Angela Hughes, Linda Castro (James), Frank Fiala Jr., Cathy Mendez (Alex), Tammy McCune (Randy); cherished grandfather to Nicole, Melissa, Ryan, Joey, Katie, James Jr., Ashley, Jake, Matthew, Robert and Frankie; great-grandfather to Jackson, Charley Rose, Colton, Harper, Davey, Weston and Presley; companion and best friend to Carolyn Scheppler; brother to Gloria Howarth and Linda Johnson; brother-in-law to James Howarth; uncle to Christine, Jennifer, Marcus and Jaimie; and great-uncle to Makenzie, Riana, Kenny, Ally and Eva.

Frank was preceded in death by his loving wife Lillian Rose Fiala (2011), brother Eugene Fiala (2021), grandson Nicolas Anthony Mendez (2015), son-in-law Jeff Allen Hughes (2022) and his parents James J. (2005) and Bernice C. Fiala (1996).

Frank will be dearly missed every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.
