Frank Hilcz, 91, of Knightstown, Indiana, passed away June 18, 2024, at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.
He was born on July 16, 1932, in Budapest, Hungary to Franz Hilcz and Etelka Bösz Hilcz.
Frank spent his childhood in Hungary and as a young teen emigrated to Germany with his family after WW II where he attended high school and graduated in 1951. He later emigrated to the United States and became a United States Citizen on September 21, 1951.
Frank served his country in the United States Army from 1955-1957. During his service in the Army, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and served in the European Command 11th ABN as an auto mechanic. He worked at Stutz Warehouse & Storage Company, Indianapolis for a short period of time. He was a machinist for 20 years, and he worked for the BMV for 32 years. He was a member of the Knightstown American Legion Post #152.
Frank is survived by his wife, Judy (Harrell) Hilcz; Daughter, Julia (Pat) Sanders; son, Robert (Jenny) Hilcz; 4 Stepchildren, Daniel (Special friend, Diane) Florea, Dawn Florea, Carrie (Chris) Underwood & James (Jenny) Florea; & 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Ethel.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 pm, Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at Bozell Funeral Homes, Condo Chapel, 130 S. Main Street, Wilkinson, Indiana with Pastor Danny Thompkins officiating. A visitation will be held 11-1pm, Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery, Knightstown, Indiana.
Memorial contributions may be made to Knightstown American Legion.
