Frank L. Lango, 77, passed away after living a good and full life. Born on February 4, 1949, in Springfield, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Frank A. Lango and Rita Crabtree Lango. Frank was a lifelong resident of Enfield for his first 72 years and remained deeply connected to his hometown throughout his life. He was a faithful member of St. Patrick's Church in Enfield and a proud American who strongly supported believed in and supported this country. From an early age, Frank loved sports. He played Little League baseball and later, during the 1970s, competed in slow-pitch softball. A standout athlete, he played on the Enfield Street Arco teams, which won numerous tournaments, including the Enfield Mayor's Trophy in 1974. Frank was also a devoted professional sports fan, passionately supporting all Boston teams-while always having a soft spot for the underdogs. One of the greatest thrills of his life was witnessing the Boston Red Sox's historic 2004 ALCS comeback and subsequent World Series championships. Frank had a lifelong love of cars and racing. He admired sharp automobiles and owned several, including a 1969 Mustang Mach 1, three Corvettes, and his personal favorite, a 1997 Lincoln Town Car. His passion for auto racing began in 1961 at Riverside Park and continued throughout his life. He proudly owned LM No. 17 at Stafford Motor Speedway, earning championships in 2001 and 2002. He was also an associate sponsor on four championship cars at the New London Waterford Speedbowl. A hard worker and dedicated professional, Frank spent 40 years at Western New England University, where he served as Head of Housekeeping. He was respected for his leadership, work ethic, and fairness. Frank loved pasta and good food, dressing well, and spending time with children and dogs. He was truly a people person-stern but fair, with a great sense of humor and a generous heart. Frank is survived by his beloved partner of 42 years, Barbara Jean Trombley of Springfield; his two sons, Mark Trombley and his partner, Lise-Anne Grondin and William Trombley and his wife, Colleen; his brother and best friend, Donald Lango, of Enfield, and his partner, Rosemary Campbell; his five grandchildren, Stephanie, Brittany, Savannah, Olivia and Noah; his niece, Ashlea Sarnelli and her husband, Mike, of Agawam and their three children, Amelia, Gio and Michael; along with a large extended family and many dear friends from Western New England University and the Enfield community. Frank L. Lango lived life fully, with passion, loyalty, and heart. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A Funeral Home Service will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 10am at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, MA, 01118. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Park Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026, from 3-5pm at the funeral home.
