Frank Mahan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Meredith Funeral Home - Morgantown on Jun. 28, 2023.
Frank E. Mahan, age 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, June 27, 2023 at his home in Morgan County.
Frank was born October 1, 1931 in Highland Park, Michigan to his parents, the late Charles Haston and Lillian Florence (Crawford) Mahan. Frank's family moved several times when he was younger and after living in Michigan, Tennessee, Mississippi and New York, he moved again at the age of 16 and called Indiana home. He proudly served his country with the United States Army during the Korean War. After serving his country, he married Shirley A. Miller on July 30, 1955 in Royal Oak, Michigan and together they were blessed with three sons Mark, Vance and Randy. She preceded him in death in 2016 after 61 devoted years of marriage.
Frank retired from General Motors on his birthday in 1985 after serving over 30 years as a Tool & Die Maker in Indianapolis. He belonged to the York Street Church of Christ in Martinsville. He enjoyed restoring antique cars, reading Civil War History and spending time with his blue tick beagle, Rocky and beagle Missy. He was a man of many talents and along with being a car mechanic, he also enjoyed building homes. Frank enjoyed spending time in the outdoors by traveling with his wife, Shirley, growing blueberries, hunting rabbit and deer as well as fishing near the Cumberland River in Tennessee. He will be remembered most for his love of family and his ability to never meet a stranger.
He will be missed by his sons, Mark Mahan of Morgan County, Vance (Becky) Mahan of Martinsville and Randy (Leta) Mahan of Morgantown; grandchildren, Chad (Holly) Mahan, Nick (Molly) Mahan, Benjamin (Brittany) Mahan, Leslie Allison (Steve) Jordan and Keaton (Kendra) Mahan; 11 great grandchildren; siblings, Gayle Kurtz of Plainfield, Estelle (Jim) Boyd of Lebanon and Jack (Pam) Gross of Freedom.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dave Gross and loving wife, Shirley Mahan.
Preacher Mo Hafley will conduct a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 30th at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, June 29th at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Nebo Memorial Park Cemetery in Martinsville with military rites presented by the United States Army and the local honor guard.
