Mr. Frank “Buddy” Mathews, Sr., age 77 of Waverly, TN passed away Friday, January 17, 2025, at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville, TN. He was born June 18, 1947, in Warren, Michigan.
Buddy served honorably in the United States Army where his service to his country reflected his character and dedication to making a difference. He later devoted over 30+ years of his career to DuPont, where his hard work and commitment were evident to all who worked alongside him.
As a dedicated member of the Glenwood Community Church, Buddy made significant contributions to the church's musical ministry, serving as the music leader.
Buddy was as a former member and officer of the Coon Club, where he formed many lasting friendships and shared a common passion with others. His contributions to the club reflected his love for both the outdoors and the bonds forged through shared interests.
Buddy also found solace and joy in a variety of hobbies. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, often relishing the tranquility of the great outdoors. His enthusiasm extended to antiquing, yard sales, and flea markets, where he delighted in discovering hidden treasures.
Buddy Mathews will be remembered as a devoted individual whose contributions to his family, friends, and community will resonate for years to come. His spirit lives on in the memories crafted through shared experiences and the love he imparted to those around him.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00pm Saturday, January 25th and from 10:00am until service time Sunday, January 26th at Humphreys County Funeral Home.
Funeral Services for Mr. Mathews will be conducted at 1:00pm Sunday, January 26, 2025, in the Humphreys County Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Larry McGranahan officiating.
Interment will follow in Mathews Cemetery.
