Frank G. Matter

Frank "Jerry" Matter, age 91, passed away on August 25, 2022 (at Maple Farm Nursing Center, Akron, PA), and is now with the Lord in heaven. He was born in Millersburg, December 10, 1930, the son of the late Albert and Cynthia (Franke) Matter. He was the devoted husband of the late Alma Lois Lilly Matter, with whom he shared 59 years of marriage until her passing on January 29, 2015.
He had worked for the federal government, first at the former Olmsted Airbase (Middletown), and then transferred to the defense depot (Mechanicsburg) where he retired in 1985.
He is an Army veteran, having served in Germany during the occupation. He and his wife also operated a farm for many years. He is a founding member of Reigles Bible Fellowship Church and very active in Christian endeavors there. He was active in other Christian groups including the Christian Businessmens Committee, and the PA Family Institute. He also was a life-long member of the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by a son, Timothy Matter and wife Linda of Elizabethville; and daughter, Stephanie Hersh and husband Ed from Millersville. He has seven grandchildren; Tony, Kevin, Robbie, Jesse, Carolyn, Benjamin, and Sarah, along with eleven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wed. August 31, 2022 at 11am at Reigles Bible Fellowship Church, 158 Reigles Church Rd, Millersburg, PA 17061. Visitation will be held on August 31 at the church from 10am- 11am. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
