Franklin Ray McCarty, 78, passed away December 6, 2025 at Springhill Village Nursing home in Terre Haute, IN after a courageous battle from a stroke. Frank was born January 13, 1947, in Terre Haute, IN, to Ray and Genevieve McCarty.
He is survived by his sons Greg S. McCarty and Bart A. (Janet) McCarty, granddaughter Keyli (Evan) Parker, great grandson Jud Parker. Sister Marsha McCarty, brothers Stan (Diane) McCarty, Steve (Cindy) McCarty, and Ron (Ellen) Highsmith. Nephew Arthur (Megan) Keith, niece Trina McCarty, great nephews Owen Keith and Marshall Vires. He was proceed in death by his parents, niece Barbra J. Keith , nephew Steven McCarty.
Frank grew up in West Terre Haute, IN and lived in other central and southern cities in Indiana. He graduated from Rose Polytechnic Institute, (Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology), in 1969 majoring in Mechanical Engineering. He was employed by various companies in Indiana and obtained many patents for some of his employers. He loved a good challenge wether it was work or life related. He loved to waterski, snow ski, snorkel, and go white water rafting with his sons and friends. This enthusiasm carried over into the projects he worked on. During Franks’ freshman year at Rose his english professor told him it was a good thing that he was going to be an engineer because he sure did slather the english language.
The family is planning a Celebration of Life at a later date. Those wishing to honor his memory are invited to make contributions to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on their website, rose-hulman.edu under Tribute Donations.
