MORTON – Frank D. Morrison, 96, of Morton, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton. He was born on February 26, 1928, in Aurora, Illinois, to Florin and Helen (Mack) Morrison. Frank married Caroleen Johnson on August 24, 1957, in Galesburg, Illinois. Surviving are his wife, Caroleen Morrison of Morton; children, Steve (Elizabeth) Morrison of Morton and Jayne (Jim) Benckendorf of Deer Creek; former daughter-in-law, Deborah Morrison of Morton; grandchildren, Noah (Megan) Benckendorf, Jared Benckendorf, Derek Morrison, Brooke Morrison; step-grandchildren, Faith and Seth Gager and Dustin Husted; and great granddaughter, Violet Benckendorf. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lynne Anne; one brother, Howard; and three sisters, Winifred, Hazel and Elsie. Frank worked in District 150 for more than 40 years. During those years, he was a teacher and retired as the principal for Greeley School. After retirement, he went back to District 150 for another 8 years working as the school librarian for Von Steuben Middle School. Frank was a member of New Windsor Sportsmen's Club in Victoria, Illinois. He enjoyed being outdoors, playing golf and fishing. While indoors, Frank enjoyed bowling and baking. Frank attended Morton Methodist Church, where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2024, with Pastor Bill Novak officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday, prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Roberts Cemetery in Morton. Memorials may be made to Illinois CancerCare or St. Jude Runners' Association. Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton is handling arrangements.
