Born in Barnwell County, SC, he was a son of the late Claude T. Owens and Ethel Joyner Burchfield. He loved spending time with his nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He also enjoyed fishing, especially fishing for Rainbow Trout in the mountains.
Survivors include his three sisters, Betty Linder of Summerville, SC, Shirley Smith and Terry Clark both of Olar, SC; two brothers, John Marshall Owens of Pelion, SC and Randy Peagler of Summerville, SC and a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews that he dearly loved.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Rice.
