Frank Piccone Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Joseph J Smith Funeral Home Inc on Jan. 30, 2024.
Frank Dominick Piccone, 93, of Mahopac, NY and devoted father of Diane, Elaine and Robert, passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family on January 29, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents Anthony and Jeanette Piccone and his loving wife Dolores. Frank is survived by his brother John Piccone, daughter Diane (Ben) Saperstein, daughter Elaine Piccone, and son Robert (Nicole) Piccone and his beloved grandchildren, Glenn, Kristen, Jack and TJ.
Frank was born in Brooklyn, NY to Jeanette and Anthony Piccone on June 4, 1930. Frank grew up in Brooklyn and graduated from Lafayette High School in 1948 and later in life he graduated from Iona College. After graduation, Frank joined the U.S. Navy in 1948 through 1989 as an anti-submarine Helicopter Pilot -HS-74. Frank worked for Con Edison as an electrician and then as a district manager until his retirement in 1990. During that time Frank served in the Navy Reserves until 1989. Frank could be summed up in three words: Family, Friendship and Country. In the 93 years that Frank lived he was so many things to so many. His Mahopac friends and his Navy buddies were a big part of his life. He loved traveling with the love of his life Dolores. They took many trips together, Alaska being one of his favorites. They loved to go to dances at the Glen Island Casino with their friends.
Frank embraced his community. When he moved to Mahopac, he became head of the homeowner's association, he was the head of the Architect Review Board for his town, and he was the baseball commissioner for his son's baseball league. He was the dad you could find after work as the pitcher for kick ball, any kid was welcome. He never missed his son's football games. Frank was known for his selflessness. Always the first to volunteer to help his friends and neighbors. The life of a party, Frank had a great sense of humor and a love for big band music and dancing.
Later in life it was all about his grandchildren, any game he could attend he was there. When his grandson Glenn went to Cooperstown grandpa was right there with him. Nothing was more important to Frank than spending quality time with his four grandchildren. Sleepovers and pancake breakfasts were his specialty.
Frank was a wonderful and caring husband, father, grandpa and friend, who will be missed, but always loved and remembered, by those he leaves behind.
Relative and friends are invited to attend his funeral mass celebrated at Roman Catholic Church of St. Johns the Evangelist, Mahopac, NY on Thursday February 1, at 10:00 am. Services will conclude with Interment in Hillside Cemetery in Cortlandt Manor, NY.

Dear Elaine and family, I was so happy to spend a bit of time with your Dad several years ago when he was visiting you. The love and pride he had for you was heartwarming and endearing. He took such good care of his family, and his family took such good care of him. May his memory be a blessing.

Dear Elaine and family, my thoughts are with your entire family. I know how difficult it is to lose such a strong patriarch. I feel like through all the stories I have heard of your Dad that he was such a hero to all of you and also to our country. I hope your can realize what an amazing job you did taking care of him in his final years. I wish you all peace and comfort in the wonderful memories he and your mother have left you. Sincerely your friend, Joanna
