Dr. Frank Anthony Reda, 97, of Pittsburgh, PA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 27, 2021. Born June 6, 1923 in Clarksburg, WV, he was the son of Italian immigrants, the late Frank C. Reda and Elizabeth B. (Gemma) Reda. Preceded in death by his brother, Herman Reda of St. Simons, GA and Carolyn (Reda) Wysong of Winston-Salem, NC.

Dr. Reda served in the Medical Corps during WWII and the Korean War. He attended Duke University where he played on the freshman men's basketball team, later transferring to West Virginia University upon the death of his father. While at West Virginia, he was proud to be a part of the men's basketball team from 1942-1944 before placing more focus on academics to pursue his degree in medicine. He went on to complete his medical degree at the Medical College of Virginia Commonwealth University.

Dr. Reda continued to serve his community as an obstetrician-gynecologist at St. Clair Hospital from 1958-2015, delivering more than 6,300 babies over several decades. He was President of the Allegheny County Medical Society and established the Joseph F. Mulach Lecture Series at St. Clair Hospital, a series that still continues today as an avenue for staff to further their medical education.

He was an avid WVU fan no matter the sport, as well as a Steeler fan and season ticket holder for well over 60 years. On weekends, you could find him on the golf course at St. Clair Country Club where he had been a member since 1970, keeping up with his golf game well into his 90s.

Dr. Reda was a gregarious and caring individual both in his personal and professional life. He was extremely devoted to his family and many patients who became lifelong friends. He had a special way of relating to people, always ensuring they felt important and cared for. Despite his extremely busy career, he made time for his children and grandchildren. Whether it was taking a dip in the pool at sundown, grabbing donuts on the weekends, attending church on Sundays, or throwing the football out front. He was an amazing Pop, who truly encouraged you to be the best person you could be.

Dr. Reda is survived by his son Tony Reda and three daughters Christina Trombetta, Frances Reda, and Linda Pardy Mickey. Also survived by nine grandchildren Anthony, Lauren, Lisa, Jake, Dallas, Marie, John Paul, Bridger, and Anabelle, and nine great grandchildren. The family would also like to extend a warm thank you to all staff members at Providence Point for the loving care they provided to their Pop, you all held a very special place in his heart.

A memorial celebration will be held on May 8, 2021 at 11:00am, Christ United Methodist Church in Bethel Park with a reception following at St. Clair Country Club. All are welcome, masks and social distancing required. We will be honoring the lives of Dr. Frank Reda and Jane S. Reda who passed away on January 15, 2021. We loved Dr. Reda. May he Rest In Peace. He delivered both of our babies and was one of my favorite customers at Mt. Lebanon Federal. All our deepest sympathies to Linda and family.
