Frank Ruh Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Greene Funeral Home - Northwest Chapel on Mar. 2, 2026.
Rock Hill, SC – Frank N. Ruh, Jr., 90, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2026 at Westminster Health and Rehabilitation Center.

The family will receive friends from 4:30 pm-6:00 pm on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC. A Mass will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, March 6, 2026 at Saint Anne Catholic Church, 1694 Bird Street, Rock Hill, SC 29730 with Father John Guiliani officiating.

Born in Rochester, NY, Frank was the son of the late Frank N. Ruh and the late Gertrude Cole Ruh. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol Hewitt Ruh, his sisters, Mary Riley and Cathy Burnside and his brothers-in-law, Steve Riley and Bob Burnside.

Frank was married for 67 years to his high school sweetheart, Carol Hewitt Ruh. He had a long career in Rochester, NY, joining the Schlegel Corporation in the 1970's. Frank was transferred to South Carolina in 1978 where his responsibilities grew, eventually being promoted to President of the company. He retired in 1998.

Frank proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was stationed on the submarine, USS Requin. This is now a historic submarine museum docked at Kamin Science Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Frank was a dedicated and active member of Saint Anne Catholic Church for more than 48 years where he served as a Lector. He was also a member of the Rotary Club in Chester, SC.

Frank was known to be an avid piano player. He loved to play as friends and family sang along to the music. Once he moved to Westminster, he played the piano for the staff and the other residents, bringing joy to everyone. In his free time, Frank enjoyed playing tennis and golf. His ability to repair just about anything followed him throughout his years. Not only was he able to fix things around the house, he could also build things for his family. He built dollhouses for his children and grandchildren, swing sets for his grandchildren, and furniture for his family. In addition, he had a talent in custom fitting golf clubs.

Surviving are his six children, Timothy Ruh (Jamie), Linda Eshelman (Chuck Austin), Karen Rutledge (Drew), Chris Ruh (Jennifer), Michelle Wilson (Mike), and Maureen Crisp (Craig); his 12 grandchildren, Michael Ruh (Dana), Melissa Ruh, Brian Eshelman, Steve Eshelman (Megan Koster), Brent Hovis (Lynn), Kevin Hovis (Alyson), Jackson Ruh, Parker Ruh, Brad Wilson (Megan), Jake Wilson (Krysten Massey), Brittany Black (Will), and Taylor Crisp (Chandler Sloan); 12 great-grandchildren; and a few nieces and nephews.
