Frank L. Rusty

Frank Lester (Rusty) Spruill Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at his residence in Chesapeake, Virginia, on January 5, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on November 18, 1944, in Norfolk, Virginia, he was the cherished son of the late Frank Lester Spruill Sr. and Dorothy Grace Murray.

He was a Norfolk firefighter for 30 years and served with distinction, as Fire Captain for 20 years. His commitment and leadership within the department were a testament to his unwavering dedication to public service and the safety of others.

Beyond his professional life, Frank was an avid fisherman who loved being out on the water on his days off. He spent countless hours in his garage working on cars, boats and building things.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Karrie Martin. Frank leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory. He is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years, Sharon M. Spruill; two daughters, Tawny Martin (Fred) of Chesapeake, VA, and Angela (Christie) Antons (Brad) of Currituck, NC; five grandchildren, Hannah Antons, Dillon Martin, Cannon Martin, Piper Antons, and Norah Antons; and one great-grandchild, Quinn.

Frank's legacy of love for the Lord, and his family, his dedication, and passion will continue to live on through his family and the many lives he touched. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Heritage Church, located at 513 Johnstown Road, Chesapeake, Virginia. Family will be receiving guests at 10:00 A.M., and service will begin at 11 A.M.
