Gerald Joseph Broussard Jr. "Joey," 71, of
Chesapeake, Virginia, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 15, 2026.
Joey was born in
Norfolk, Virginia, on January 15, 1955, to Gerald "Jerry" Broussard Sr. and Jean Miller, who preceded him in death.
A lifelong resident of Hampton Roads, Joey dedicated his career to the automotive industry, working throughout the region and proudly following in his father's footsteps. Well-known and respected in the car business, Joey valued the relationships he built with coworkers, customers, and friends over the years. Outside of work, he enjoyed playing softball in his younger years, taking golf trips with friends, and traveling with his wife. He especially cherished Friday lunches with his long-time friend Ralph. Over the past three years, Joey devoted himself wholeheartedly to caring for his wife, a role he embraced with love, patience, and unwavering commitment.
Joey is survived by his wife of 40 years, Debbie Broussard; daughter, Shanna Marie Broussard (Arthur Hickey); son, Joseph Cory Broussard (Megan); daughter, Kimberly Anne Brown (Clyde); son, Joshua Paul Broussard (Emily); He is also survived by six grandchildren, one great-grandchild, many loving nieces and nephews, and a special companion, Calli Cat. He is further survived by his siblings: Sharon B. Willard (Ken), Robert David Broussard (Tammy), Wade Anthony Broussard, and Suzanne Bearden.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in honor of Joey's memory.
Joey will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his devotion to family, and the many lives he touched throughout Hampton Roads. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
