Frank Schmidlin

Frank Schmidlin, age 97, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 14th, 2025 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Frank was born on May 18th, 1927 as the 6th child of Louis and Paulina (Dolgner) Schmidlin. At the age of 18, Frank joined the Army, where he was stationed in Europe. Once Frank returned, he began his career at McKesson Appliance, where he served as the foreman of the shipping department for 24 years. It was there that he met the love of his life, and future wife, Donna Lou Poucher. Frank then worked at Chrysler for 10 years before transitioning to the Medical College of Ohio, where he ultimately retired from.

Frank and Donna enjoyed 59 years of life and love together, until her passing on July 30th, 2010. They loved to travel, visiting places like Hawaii, Europe, the Western states, and of course, many trips to Florida. Frank was a loving, giving and hard working husband, father, Papa, and Great Papa to his family. We would be remiss if we didn't mention he was a little stubborn, but his family loved and appreciated this and his great sense of humor the most.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Glenden, Robert, Harold, and William; sisters, Hazel Holden, Thelma Foley, and Ruth Wolf. He is survived by daughter, Susan Rohr (Keith) and their daughter, Erica (Koert) Huddle; son, Mark (Sandy) Schmidlin and their daughter, Heather (Josh) Khouri, and son, Jared (Sarah Ford) Schmidlin. Frank was blessed with six amazing great grandchildren, Makalya and Megan Khouri, David and Claire Schmidlin, Bennett and Collins Huddle. Also survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Howell and Ann Poucher.

Visitation will be held at Ansberg West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Ave., Toledo, Ohio, January 23rd from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., and January 24th at 10:00 a.m., with funeral at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be private at Toledo Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, American Heart Association, or the Donor's Choice.
