Frank J. Sciro Jr. Esq.

Frank J. Sciro, Jr., Esq., age 76, of Franklin Lakes, died peacefully on Friday, August 12, 2022 surrounded by his family. Frank was born and raised in Paterson, NJ where he attended Paterson Public Schools and was a 1971 graduate of Seton Hall Law School. Frank, a law partner of Sciro & Marotta, P.C., Paterson, NJ, had the esteem honor of being one of the best trial attorneys in the State of NJ. Throughout his law career, Frank has been honored by numerous organizations and publications, including "Who's Who" in the United States and the "Best of NJ" for outstanding Italian American Professionals. He is a member of the Criminal Defense Lawyers' Bar Association and attained an "AV" rating which is the highest rating for NJ trail attorneys. He served as a Public Defender for North Haledon and Prosecutor for the Borough of Woodland Park. Frank had the reputation as being one of the "most compassionate" criminal attorneys. Frank has been an active in the Democratic Party for 50 years, having served as the campaign manager for many local and State officials, in addition to serving on the Finance Committee for several elected officials. He was active in the Presidential Campaign for President Barack Obama. Frank was the Chief Counsel for the Passaic County Board of Social Services. In his spare time, he loved spending time and creating lasting memories with his family. He was the best Dad anyone could ask for. Frank was an avid fan of the NY Yankees and Baltimore Ravens. Frank is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 49 years, Tanis Sciro of Franklin Lakes, his daughters; Maxine Maltese of Eureka CA, Dina Sciro of Whitehouse Station, NJ and his grandson; Griffin Voss. Frank is also survived by his sister, Theodora "Teddy" Sciro of Hawthorne, NJ. He was predeceased by his parents, Senator Frank J., Sr. and Emma Sciro. He will long be remembered as a devoted "pet lover" and sorely missed by all who knew him but how blessed everyone was to have known Frank. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 18, 2022 from 2 – 4, 7 – 9 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, NJ. Prayers will commence at 9:00 AM on Friday, August 19, 2022 at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Elizabeth RC Church, 700 Wyckoff Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ 07481. The interment will follow at Christ the King Cemetery, Franklin Lakes, NJ. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in Frank's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box P, Manasquan, NJ 08736.
