Frank Joseph Sokol III

Durham, NH - Frank Joseph Sokol, III of RiverWoods, Durham passed away peacefully at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital on December 3, 2024. Frank was born in Worcester, MA on December 5th, 1940, the only child of Frank Joseph Sokol II and Viola DePatie Sokol. He graduated from Auburn High School, received a bachelor's in engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and went on to obtain an MBA from Tuck School of Business, at Dartmouth College.
Frank was an engineer and a businessman. He worked for Johnson and Johnson in New Brunswick, NJ; Research-Cottrell in Somerville, NJ; Stauffer Chemical in Westport, CT; and was a partner at Capital Partners, a private equity firm in Greenwich CT.
Frank loved his family, his dogs, and spending time at his home at Lake Winnipesaukee. He also enjoyed boating and was a talented wood carver and painter. A ceaseless tinkerer with an engineer's mind, he was most at ease in his shop, building and repairing things, and making art. He always enjoyed a good laugh, appreciated a sense of humor, and was known by many for his quick and sarcastic wit. He worked hard to provide for his family and to be sure his children and grandchildren were well taken care of and received a good education.
Frank is survived by his wife Miriam (Mimi) Davis Sokol; two sons and their spouses: Eric C. Sokol and Jessica Townsend of Portland, ME; Christopher D. Sokol and Christene Patenaude Sokol of Fall River, MA. He also leaves 4 grandchildren; Tatreaux Townsend Sokol and Rubylew Townsend Sokol of Portland, ME; Chrispin Roland Sokol and Wheeler Frank Sokol of Fall River, MA.
A small, private gathering will be held in 2025 for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Frank's memory to the New Hampshire Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 107 Portsmouth Ave., Stratham NH 03885.
