It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Frank Sorrento on October 14th, 2024 at the age of 63 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loved ones after a valiant battle with cancer.
Frank was born on July 28th,1961 in Queens, New York to Frank and Marie (DeLillis) Sorrento. Growing up in Astoria, Frank loved spending countless hours of quality time side by side with his dad at their family bakery. These formative years would shape his work ethic and business sense for years to come. He was the youngest of three, adored by his two older sisters who he equally adored.
He wed Christine (Mentesana) Sorrento in 1988 and together they had two children, Amanda and Garrett. Although Frank was a true native New Yorker at heart, they decided to move to New Jersey in 1990 to raise their family.
An entrepreneur by nature, Frank pursued a career in IT recruiting which would span over 20 years during a period of dramatic technological innovation. During the early 2000's, Frank met and wed his present wife, Patricia (McKinney) Sorrento and they happily blended their young families. Together they enjoyed traveling, spending time at the beach, and participating in the lives of their children. Over the past 10 years, Frank launched his own black car service which was successful in large part due to his charismatic nature with his clientele.
Frank had many diverse interests, ranging from his love of New York sports, to his passion for music, to his fascination with the universe, and of course his love for a sharp black Cadillac. He had an incredible ear for sound, could play guitar without reading music, and had the most beautiful singing voice. At any given moment while sitting next to him on his couch he would strike up a conversation about an array of topics, and you would always leave impressed by the amount of knowledge and enthusiasm he displayed. He was extremely athletic and especially loved racquet sports with several groups of friends over the years. He never missed an opportunity to coach his children's sports teams or cheer them on from the sidelines. He had a great appreciation for epicurean delights most notably a nice meatball in a Sunday sauce! Frank loved entertaining and making those around him laugh until they cried with his hilarious sense of humor. He was also known to light up any dance floor with his swift moves.
Frank was a proud and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother to all that were fortunate enough to be privy to his love.
Frank was predeceased by his mother Marie (DeLillis) Sorrento and his father Frank Sorrento.
He is survived by his loving, devoted wife Patricia (McKinney) Sorrento of 21 years; his daughter Amanda (Peter) Foti, his son Garrett Sorrento; his stepdaughters Jenna (Christopher) Agostinacchio and Shannon Petroski; his granddaughters Sofia and Gia Foti, and Carmela Agostinacchio; his sisters JoAnn (Charles) Brocato and Donna Sorrento; and countless loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation and memorial service on Saturday, October 19th, 2024, between the hours of 3 and 5 PM at Ely Funeral Home, 3316 Highway 33, Neptune, NJ 07753.
