Frank Henry Stieg, III, of Winter Park, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on October 31, 2025, at age 75, surrounded by his wife and daughters, after a four-year battle with cancer.

Frank was born in Hamilton, OH, to Frank Henry Stieg, Jr. and Edna Leone (Pottenger) Stieg on March 12, 1950. After growing up in Fairfield, OH, he earned his B.S. (1972) and J.D. (1974) degrees at The Ohio State University, where he met and married (1972) his wife of 53 years, Sharon (Bushong) Stieg.

The couple moved to Cincinnati, where Frank briefly practiced law before attending medical school at the University of Cincinnati (1976-80). He completed residencies in Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery (1985) and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (1987), also at the University of Cincinnati. During that time, he and Sharon welcomed their first two daughters, Shannon (1983) and Megan (1984).

After completing his medical training, Frank and his family moved to Winter Park, FL, where he welcomed his third daughter, Gretchen (1987), and practiced Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery for 30 years. He was a gifted surgeon who enjoyed his work, truly caring for his patients. He was especially known for his work with breast cancer patients and children born with cleft lips and palates.

Frank held various professional memberships, among them ASPS, AAO-HNS, ACS, AMA, FMA, and OCMS. He held leadership roles in the latter, including serving as President in 1999. He also held various leadership positions at Advent Health Hospital, including Medical Staff President (2000 & 2001) and Director of Plastic Surgery (2008-13). He was a charter member and board member of Kids' Docs, a local pediatric multi-specialty association.

In addition to his private medical practice, Frank was very active in his community. He was involved in the Greater Orlando Chapter of the American Cancer Society and Breast Cancer Task Force, serving on the board of directors and sponsoring his office team annually for the Winter Park Breast Cancer Walk. He also participated in the AMA-ABA Drug Awareness Program in local high schools. He volunteered as a medical provider for Shepherd's Hope Clinic, Grace Medical Center, and Orange County Special Care, and was an active participant in both the CMS Cleft Clinic, where he also served as medical director for several years, and the greater Orlando Craniofacial Clinic.

Frank volunteered his services internationally as a member of over 45 surgical mission trips to Central and South America with the Advent Health Sharing Smiles program. He was especially proud to have his daughters join him on these mission trips, where they had the opportunity to appreciate what a blessing he believed it was to work in a job where he could help people every day.

Frank was an active and devoted member of First United Methodist Church of Winter Park for 38 years. He taught every age Sunday school classes over the years, from kindergarten to adults.

Frank was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. He had a curious mind and thrived on learning new things, voraciously reading everything from medical journals to non-fiction books on history, religion, and philosophy. He was a natural teacher, ready to share his knowledge with anyone who would listen, from medical students and residents to his Sunday school pupils and his daughters' friends.

When not working, Frank loved spending time with his family, whether at home (swimming, boating, building Legos, playing with and babysitting grandkids), taking everyone out to eat, especially for BBQ, visiting the local zoo, science center, and museums, or attending events like the Festival of Trees, Leu Gardens' Dazzling Nights, and TSO concerts. He also enjoyed traveling with his family, both in the U.S. and globally.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Stieg, his three daughters, Shannon Stieg, Megan Stieg (Ryan McClimans), and Gretchen Stieg (Jeffrey Gannon), four young grandchildren, Jeremiah, Dagny, Arden, and Connor, and Connor's soon-to-be-born baby brother. He is also survived by his brother, Timothy Stieg, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 2 PM at the First United Methodist Church of Winter Park (125 N. Interlachen Ave., Winter Park, FL 32789).

The service will also be live-streamed on YouTube. A reception will follow in Fellowship Hall.

The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Advent Health Sharing Smiles, the international cleft lip and palate program that Frank helped lead for over two decades. Click here to donate: https://give.adventhealth.com/frank.
