GREGORY G. STIEG
Greg "Elmer Fudd" Stieg of Okawville, IL departed this life due to injuries sustained in a traffic accident on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 7:15 P.M. He had attained the age of 66 years, 3 months, and 23 days.
Gregory was born in Belleville, IL on September 26, 1958, the son of Wallace and Bonnie (nee Garbs) Stieg. He was raised in St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Okawville, where he was confirmed in 1971.
Greg was a 1976 graduate of Okawville High School. He worked as a welder at National Mines in Nashville, then later at A.O. Smith Railroad in Granite City, IL. He then worked at Terayne Ag Specialties in rural Addieville, IL for many years, then for All Purpose Erectors in Lebanon, IL until his retirement. He was a member of I.B.E.W. Local 309.
Elmer was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing. He was a member of the former Half Moon Lake Hunting Club in Okawville. He also enjoyed playing poker and hanging out with family and friends.
Left to mourn his passing is his special friend, Dora "Sis" Harvey of Okawville; a brother, Jeff Stieg of Okawville; a sister, Wanda Sigman and husband Richard of Mascoutah, IL; an uncle, Warren Stieg and wife Cindy of Okawville; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held from the Campagna Funeral Home in Okawviile on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 11 A.M. with Rev. Daniel Simonton officiating. Interment will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Okawville.
Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Okawville on Friday from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M. and on Saturday from 9 A.M. until 11 A.M.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
