Edwin Stieg Jr.

Edwin F. Stieg, Jr. 86, of Rockton, IL died Saturday April 6, 2024 in his home after a brief illness. He was born February 11, 1938 in Belvidere, IL the son of Edwin F. Stieg, Sr. and Myrtle (Hyser) Pavlak. Ed entered into the US Air Force in 1955 and served until 1959. Ed married Barbara J. Pinkston in Rockford, IL on February 6, 1960. Ed worked in the Automotive retail market until he retired. Then he worked for Walmart in Roscoe, IL, helping open the new store. He was proud that he was there until he turned 81.
He was a member of the Rockton American Legion and a former member of the Rockford Eagles Club.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Javon Bea Mercy Health ICU Staff and Heartland Hospice for all their tender loving care given to Dad.
Survivors include: son Terry Stieg; daughter Vicki (Tom) DeBerry; son Todd Stieg; grandchildren Dalton Manley, Brittany Craten, Emily (Daniel) Kent, twins Zachary and Olivia Stieg, Vincent Stieg and Rocco Stieg; great grandson Elijah and one on the way. Sisters Ellen Larson, Carol Skelly, Judy (Ralph) Peterson, brother Don (Cynthia) Pavlak; sister Sharon Osterberg; numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, wife; son Gary Stieg, sister Fran Knight.
A funeral ceremony will be held on Saturday April 13, 2024 at 1:30 pm in McCorkle Funeral Home - Rockton Chapel 767 N Blackhawk Blvd., Rockton, IL with Pastor Michie DeBerry officiating. Burial will be in Rockton Township Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 11:30 am until 1:20 pm on Saturday.
