Donna Getty Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McCorkle Funeral Home - Rockton on Feb. 5, 2026.
Donna Mae Getty passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026. Born on August 20, 1935, in Rockford, Illinois, Donna was a lifelong resident of Northern Illinois. Donna was a woman of quiet strength and determination, she was creative, an adventurous traveler, a good friend to many and a smart and accomplished professional.

Donna spent the majority of her career working as an accountant at Mutual of Omaha and Sears. In her later years, she worked at Farm & Fleet before retiring in February of 2011. She was a devoted member of the Durand United Methodist Church and joined Girl Talk, a group centered on spiritual growth. Donna's passions were reading, tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. capturing precious moments through her "always close by" camera or putting her creative skills to use with crafts. Her adventurous spirit led her to travel extensively, visiting many countries in Europe and nearly every state in the United States.

What mattered most to Donna was her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Margaret (Leaf)Whisman, her sister Carol Kelsey and her husband, Oliver Getty. She is survived by her brother Gerald Whisman, her step-daughter Charlene Getty, step-son Brian (Kristine) Getty, step-grand children, step-great grandchildren and her nieces and nephews. Her love for them was reflected in countless photographs of family events, forever preserving their shared memories.

We encourage family and friends to visit Donna's memorial page to leave memories and upload photos that celebrate her life. It is in sharing these personal mementos that we keep Donna's adventurous and creative spirit alive. Her love, wisdom, and reliability will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

A Funeral Ceremony for Donna will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Durand United Methodist Church, 102 East Main Street, Durand, Illinois with Pastor Brenda Morris officiating.
