Frank J. Taravella, 93, of Belle Vernon, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 in Dunlevy Manor. A son of the late Salvatore and Frances (DiPiazza) Taravella, he was born in Monessen on July 20, 1931.
Formerly of Monessen, Frank has resided in Belle Vernon for the past 60 years. He was a 1949 graduate of Monessen High School. Frank attended the Journey By Grace Church in Rostraver Twp. and was a former member of the People's Bible Church and then the Calvary Bible Church. He had been employed as a pipefitter at the Allenport Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, retiring after 30 years of service. Frank loved attending and showing cars at antique car shows and enjoyed working on his cars. He was a United States veteran, first enlisting in the U. S. Navy and then transferred to the U. S. Air Force.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Norma Shrader Taravella, a daughter and son in-law, Terri and Daniel Zuraw of Fellsburg, two grandchildren, Steffani (Joe) Zuraw of McMurray and Kathilynn (John) Feher of Rostraver, a sister, Joanne Cathers of Georgia, a brother, Joseph Taravella of Arizona, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Blatnik and Josephine Zdilla and a brother, Anthony Taravella.
Friends will be received on Friday from 5 to 8 P.M. in the Ferguson Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc 700 Broad Avenue Belle Vernon, 724-929-5300 www.FergusonFuneralHomeandCrematory.com. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 11 A.M. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
