James V. Hoffman, 90, of Belle Vernon, Washington Twp., passed away Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Penn Highlands - Mon Valley. Born September 3, 1935 in Belle Vernon, PA he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Kekely Hoffman. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, Mr. Hoffman was a member of St. Sebastian R.C. Church, Belle Vernon, was a retired high school teacher for 40 years specializing in Comprehensive Social Studies from the Belle Vernon Area and Thomas Jefferson School Districts. James also coached football at Belmar and TJ for many years. He was a member of the East Belle Vernon Athletic Club that was founded by his brothers, amongst others to support athletics in the Belle Vernon Area, was an avid fisherman and Pittsburgh Sports fan.
He is survived by his wife Joanne Malak Hoffman to whom he was married 67 years: four children David & Nancy Hoffman of California, Jodi Hoffman of Greenville, SC, Amy & Jamie Dindal of Bentleyville, Brad & Deyon Hoffman of Florida, Nancy Hoffman of Washington, PA; 11 grandchildren Alyssia Hoffman, Andrew Hoffman, Dylan Smith, Cassidy Smith, Alexa Smith, Carson & Caitlin Dindal, Chelsea Dindal, Colby Hoffman, Peyton Hoffman, Kendall Hoffman, Addyson Hoffman; one great grandchild on the way and a brother Paul Hoffman of Alabama. He is preceded in death by his son Scott Hoffman; brothers Edward Hoffman, Joseph Hoffman, infant brother Richard Hoffman; two sisters Pat Zidek and Betty Ann Tonkavitch.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations LLC, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon 724-929-6183. Prayers of Transfer will be held Tuesday at 9:30 am in the funeral home followed by funeral mass at 10:00 am at St. Sebastian R.C. Church with the Rev. Michael Thomas as celebrant. Interment will take place in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
