Frank Thometz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Harder Funeral Home - Brookfield on Jul. 1, 2024.
Frank Peter Thometz Jr. died peacefully with his family at his side on June 27, 2024 at 97 years of age. He was a beacon of generosity, kindness and intelligence. Frank was a devoted, loving husband and partner of Kathleen Ann nee Groves for 48 years. Beloved son of the late Dr. Francis P. and Marie nee Latz. He was preceded in death by his late wife Mary Joan nee Birkenhead. Proud father of Frank P. III "Trip" (Kathleen Mary), Jonathan A. (Rita), and Michael D. Thometz. Grandad of Francis P. "Peter" IV, Mary Jo, Brian, Maxwell, Elizabeth and Andrew Thometz. Dear brother of the late Mary Frances (Martin) Graham. He will be further remembered by other relatives and friends.
Frank was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 28, 1927. He attended St. Mel's High School, and the University of Notre Dame graduating in 1948. He completed the Advanced Executive Finance Program at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Frank's career began in 1952 at Dean Witter (now know as Morgan Stanley) in Chicago. He advanced with a move to Milwaukee becoming Branch Manager, overseeing 5 offices in Wisconsin, and continued his distinguished career of 67 years in Finance and Private Wealth.
Frank matched his dedication to work with his commitment to his community. His involvement included board memberships at Milwaukee Tennis and Education Foundation, Milwaukee River Revitalization Foundation, Urban Day School, the Milwaukee Catholic Home, and Milwaukee Kiwanis. In 1999, Frank and his wife Kathleen founded the Business Leaders Forum at Marquette University, Milwaukee.
Frank enjoyed tennis, skiing, golf and world travel. He and Kathleen explored all 7 continents. He loved watching Notre Dame football with his life-long friend and college roommate, Don Clark. "Love leaves behind more than death takes."
Visitation at Lumen Christi Catholic Church, 2750 W. Mequon Road, Mequon, Wisconsin, on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 from 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM. Mass of Christian Burial, interment at Lumen Christi Cemetery and luncheon to follow.
In lieu of flowers and in Frank's memory, donations to Marquette University College of Business Administration, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra or Open Door Café at St John's Cathedral would be greatly appreciated.
Heartfelt thanks to our caregivers and all of the staff at St. John's on the Lake.
