Frank Vandeputte

Frank Vandeputte, age 100, a resident of Rose Senior Living in Clinton Township, Michigan passed Wednesday, September 11, 2024. He was born on March 5, 1924 in Detroit, MI to Edmond and Margaret (Spriet) Vandeputte. On June 4, 1947 in Detroit, he was united in marriage to Elsie (Samyn) Vandeputte. Together they celebrated 76 years of marriage before she passed on June 15, 2023.
Retiring in 1982, Frank had previously worked as an auto mechanic at several dealerships and later as a lab technician at General Motors. He proudly served in the United States Army during WW II. Frank was a long-time member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Clinton Twp. where he often assisted with repairs and landscaping. An avid golfer, he loved playing, teaching, and providing a "word of advice" to other golfers. After retiring from the auto industry, Frank worked part-time in the golf dome at C.J. Barrymore's for many years, providing instructions and filling in where needed. When not enjoying the endless pursuit of a hole-in-one, Frank also enjoyed his own yard work and working with stained glass.
Frank is survived by his children, Frank (Carol Fuller) Vandeputte, Ronald Vandeputte, Gary (Lisa) Vandeputte, Denise (Mark) Stephens and David (Betty) Vandeputte. He was the proud grandfather of Justin (Crystal), Jordan (Heather), Paula (Steve), Jeff (Marcie), Brian, Kevin, Steven, Rachel, and Evan (Kelsey) and eight great-grandchildren with number nine arriving in February 2025. In addition to his parents and wife Elsie, Frank was also preceded in death by his brother Marcel Vandeputte, and daughter-in-law Noreen.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Harold W. Vick Funeral Home, Mt. Clemens. A funeral mass, followed by Military Honors will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at 11:00a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church, 24415 Crocker Blvd., Clinton Twp., MI 48036 with Rev. Fr. Christopher Muer officiating. Friends and family are welcome to gather beginning at 10:00a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be addressed to St. Louis St. Vincent De Paul at St. Louis Catholic Parish 24415 Crocker Blvd. Clinton Township, MI 48036.
