Frankie Don Bartmess, Sr., 75, of LeRoy, Kansas, passed away late Friday, October 25, 2024, at the Life Care Center in Burlington.
He was born October 1, 1949, in Picher, Oklahoma, the son of Alfred and Lawanda Beatrice (Peace) Bartmess. His parents traveled with a carnival so he joined them on this adventure. He spent most of his childhood in Kansas and Picher, Oklahoma, where he met his first true love, Susan Pathkiller, who together became proud first time parents to a daughter Ktina Lynn. As with life all things change and he would later marry his best friend Nancy Thomason and they became the proud parents of twin boys Frankie Jr and his brother who passed at birth. Together they shared a life for many years until Nancy preceded him in death in 1988. He later reconciled with his first love Susan and, like the wonderful loving man he was, he happily chose to continue raising his step daughters, Mary Ann and Erica Dawn, who have both preceded him in death. Once again Frank and Susan would become the proud parents of a beautiful daughter, Inola. Susan preceded him in death in 2016.
He leaves his children, Ktina Stewart, Jenks, OK, Frankie Bartmess, Jr., LeRoy, KS, and Inola Bartmess, LeRoy, KS; 14 grandchildren; sisters, Debbie Heminger, Pahrump, NV and Nita Mahon, Greeley, KS; two brothers, Gary McCarty, Needville, TX, and Freddie Bartmess, Joplin, MO; many other relatives and friends.
Cremation is planned. The family will hold private services.
Memorial contributions may be made to Jones Funeral Home to help the family with expenses and may be sent in care of Jones Funeral Home, PO Box 277, Burlington, KS 66839.
