Born on March 27, 1948, in Crescent, Oklahoma, to Frankie and Ruth Phillips, he grew up surrounded by the love of his parents and sisters Barbara, Shirley, Loretta, and Bonnie, who preceded him in passing.

He shared an unwavering partnership with his beloved wife, Betty Phillips, and together they raised a loving family, including their daughters Janice Jordan, Shannon Campbell, and Frankie Caldwell.
