Franklin Orville Boyer III

FRANKLIN ORVILLE "FRIENDLY FRANK" BOYER III, 85, of Grundy, VA, passed away Friday, February 6, 2026, at the Heritage Hall Grundy, VA. Born in Los Angeles, CA, he was the son of the late Franklin Orville Boyer JR. and Barbara Louise (Walsh) Boyer. He was a longtime resident of Buchanan County and was a member of Vansant Baptist Church and sung in the choir for many years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, served in the United States Air Force, and was a salesman for Freedom Ford. He worked for WMJD, loved watching NASCAR, music especially the oldies, collecting vinyl records, Cincinnati Reds, the Dallas Cowboys, and attended private school, Punahou, in Honolulu, Hawaii. Friendly Frank never met a stranger.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons: Michael, Matson, Mark Boyer.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 62 years, Janice Elaine (Looney) Boyer, Grundy, VA; daughter: Mailani Boyer and husband Russell Platt, Concord, NC; son: Franklin Orville "Buddy" and wife Michelle Boyer IV, Round Rock, TX; sister; Judy Duffy, Scarmento, CA; half-sister: Susie Sexton, CA, half-brother: Ritchie Sexton, CA.

Also, survived by several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Sunday, February 15, 2026, at 1:00 P.M. to the funeral hour at 2:00 P.M.

Funeral Services for FRANKLIN ORVILLE "FRIENDLY FRANK" BOYER III will be conducted Sunday, February 15, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Joey Breeding officiating. With burial to follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, VA.

Active Pallbearers will be family and friends.
