Franklin Cain Obituary

Franklin Junior Cain left this world in peace and with dignity on September 3, 2023. He leaves behind a loving family, dear friends, and a legacy of hard work, loyalty, determination, and laughter. His life was not always easy, but it was certainly full, and he fought for every last bit of it, right up until the end. For all those who will miss him on earth, he has that many more faces waiting to welcome him to heaven, including his parents, brothers, son, and many dear and lifelong friends.
Frank was born on October 11, 1933 in Covington, Kentucky.
He left school at a young age to work and take care of his mother and brother after the death of his dad. He proudly and bravely served in the US Army, and upon his return, he met and married Colina, his devoted wife and constant companion of 65 years. Together they raised a daughter (Teena) and two sons (Dwayne and David), who gave them much joy and many sleepless nights. Frank worked tirelessly to support his family and to help others without expecting anything in return. He was generous not only with what he had but more importantly with who he was, and he made a difference in more ways and to more people than he will ever know.
During his long career in the hospitality industry, Frank befriended some pretty famous athletes, musicians, and celebrities. He worked hard and played hard, but his favorite faces were those he came home to. His family was his life, and he loved them just as much as they will always love him. From family vacations and the state tournament to unexpected phone calls and dances in the car, through good times and bad, he reminded us that the things that matter most aren't actually things at all.
Frank was strong but gentle, generous and kind, funny, focused, humble, and loyal. His life mattered more than he would admit, and he will be missed immeasurably. In his honor we will play the quarter slots, complain about the Reds, cheer for the Bearcats, spoil our dogs and our grandkids, eat lots of ice cream and hard candy, say what we mean, help when we can, always give our best, love each other fiercely, and never go down without a fight.
Frank is survived by his wife, Colina; daughter, Teena (Mark)
Schloemer; son, David (Karen) Cain, grandchildren, Alesha (Jason) Burkhardt, Steven Schloemer (Jessie), Austin (Taylor) Cain, Ryan Roth, Natalie Cain, Shelby Roth, TC Cain, Steven Cain, and Lacey Cain; as well as several great-grandchildren here with us and one on the way. A private service will be held for Frank's family before the burial at Floral Hills Cemetery in Taylor Mill. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Frank's memory to St. Elizabeth Hospice Center in Edgewood.
