Our dear father, Franklin A. Darden, went on to join his wife, Barbara Darden, in heaven early morning on Tuesday July 30, 2024. He was with his children as he met our Lord Jesus. Frank was a Chesapeake native and a faithful patriot of this country. He grew up in the South Norfolk section of Chesapeake where he met his soulmate, Barbara, as a teenager. He was an Oscar Smith High School alumni and played football for the Tigers. Currently he attended Southside Baptist Church with his daughter Michelle. "Frankie" as his friends like to call him, volunteered for several local charity organizations and clubs and was also an avid golfer and outdoorsman.
He retired from homebuilding and remodeling and was a Freemason and Shriner. He was predeceased by his parents R.B. and Pauline Darden, brother Rudy Darden, and his wife Barbara Darden. Survivors include Jeff Darden, Greg Darden and Michelle Simmonds; a brother, Ronald; and a host of many other loving family members. A graveside service will be held on Thursday August 8, 2024, at 11 am at Riverside Memorial Park, 1000 East Indian River Road, Norfolk, Va. The family will receive family and friends at their home in Chesapeake at the conclusion of the service.
