A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 11:00 am at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette for Franklin Albert Sauter, Sr, 91, who passed away on June 23, 2025, at Calcutta House in Lafayette. Visitation will be observed at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette on Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 9:00 am until the time of service. Interment will follow in Fountain Memorial Cemetery in Lafayette. Father Gregory Chauvin of St. Jules Catholic Church in Lafayette, will officiate. Franklin Albert Sauter, Sr., was born April 18, 1934, in Waconia, MN and was a long-time resident of Acadiana. He was a proud veteran and served as a Master Sergeant in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was the recipient of Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Longevity Service Award (AFSLSA) ribbon with four Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters and the Vietnam Service Medal. After retiring from his 20 years in the Air Force, Franklin worked as an Appliance Technician in the Service industry. He was active in his community and was a member of VFW #9822 in Duson. Franklin was a parishioner of St. Edmond Roman Catholic Church in Lafayette. Franklin is survived by his two sons, Franklin A. Sauter, Jr., and his wife, Melanie and Ricky A. Sauter; his brother-in-law, Richard Fabre and sister-in-law, Myrtle Fabre; his two grandchildren, Rhett Sauter and Rhyan Sauter; his two great-grandchildren, Jaxon Fox and Bennett Sauter and numerous dear nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Shirley Fabre Sauter; his parents, Herbert and Melinda Graff Sauter; his five brothers, Sonny, Jimmy, Herbie, Doug and Bill and his four sisters, Gladys, Shirley, Elaine and Betty Jean; his brothers-in-law, Russell Fabre and Lloyd Dupuis and sister-in-law, Earline Fabre Guidry. Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Franklin Sauter, Jr., Ricky Sauter, Rhett Sauter, Fils Prejean, Landon Guidry, and Bennett Guidry. Special thanks to Bob James, Susan James, and Brenda Snelson for the longtime friendship and support. The family also wishes to thank Brookdale Assisted Living for the kind and compassionate care and Hospice of Acadiana and their staff of the Calcutta House for the dignified end of life care.
