TOLUCA – Franz Stoeger, 89, of Toluca, IL, passed away surrounded by his family at Goldwater Care in Pontiac, IL, on June 23, 2023.
He was born on October 1, 1933 in Feldkirchen, Austria, to John and Maria Stoeger. He was one of nine children. In 1961, Franz migrated to the United States by boat. He married Loretta Hutchinson at Hope Lutheran Church in Chicago, IL on June 15, 1963. They just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta Stoeger of Toluca, IL; and their children: Adrienne (Don) Boswell of El Paso, IL, Frank (Paula) Stoeger of Lacon, IL, Scott Stoeger of Toluca, IL, Brent Stoeger of Toluca, IL, Alex (Kerri) Stoeger of Minonk, IL, and Kent (Melissa) Stoeger of Buffalo Grove, IL; grandchildren: Jayme (Jeff) Zehr, Hannah (Matt) Weber, Jenna (Matt) Vissering, Joshua Ludeman, Noah Stoeger, Emily, Ethan, and Mason Stoeger; great-grandchildren: Abygail, Owen, and Jacob Zehr; Charles and George Weber.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 siblings, and his son John Stoeger.
Franz was a master tailor and continued his trade after retiring from the Toluca Garment Factory. He had a passion for gardening and constructive work and always enjoyed a good German beer. He enjoyed spending time with family and traveling back to his home country.
The family would like to thank the staff at Goldwater Care for all the love and compassionate care given to Franz.
He was a member and elder at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Varna, IL where services will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023. Visitation will be from 9:30am – 11:00am and the funeral at 11:00am.
