Fred Brumble Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Twiford Funeral Home - Outer Banks - Manteo on Dec. 18, 2025.
Fred Ely Brumble, born on August 23, 1931, in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at his home in Frisco, North Carolina, on December 9, 2025, at the age of 94.
Fred was a man of dedication and service, both to his country and his community. He served honorably in the United States Navy during the Korean War for four years, demonstrating a commitment to duty that he carried throughout his life.
After his military service, Fred became a successful entrepreneur. He was the owner of Rite Way Electric, an electrical company he led with distinction for fifty years. His business acumen extended beyond this venture, as he co-owned The Lobster Pot and Mike's Market, and held several real estate investments. Fred's passion for design and construction was evident in the two homes he built in Ocean City, NJ, and Frisco, NC.
Education was important to Fred, who attended Penn Charter School in Pennsylvania. He was instrumental in founding the Penncrest High School Hockey Team, which achieved numerous championships under his guidance.
Fred was deeply involved in his community. He was a valued member of The Cape Hatteras Anglers Club and the Masonic Temple in Springfield, PA. Sports were an integral part of his life; he played baseball in several leagues, most notably The Old Timers in Media, and later took up hockey. A devoted Philadelphia Flyers fan, Fred was a season ticket holder from the team's inception. He believed that playing sports built character.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Brumble and Mary Baylor Brumble, his beloved wife, Patty Highfield Brumble, his son, Freddy Brumble, and his grandson, DJ Douge.
He is survived by his daughters, Arlene Brumble Douge and Dianne Brumble, and his sister, Jean Stewart.
A celebration of Fred's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cape Hatteras United Methodist Men at P.O. Box 1591, Buxton, NC 27930 or https://www.hatterasmethodistmen.org/donate.
